Was debating weather it was safe to fish the weekend gone but knowing the fish can respond to a bit of wind….how could I turn it down. Crazy and stupid possibly yes!!
I managed to get the Bivvy set up and I’m positioned ready to take a beating from the wind by about 7am.
Found my spots and rods were out by 10am baiting lightly with a few free offerings around each spot. By 10.30 the wind was picking up!
I think then by 1pm I had decided to give up an rest my swim as trees were falling all around!! Pod being blown over twice
Myself and a few the lads headed to the middle of the lake away from any risk of a branches coming down and giving us a beating!…. Then followed a Few hours of carnage.
Around 3-4pm Friday wind had dropped enough to get the rods back out on the spots for the evening. No signs of fish I had hoped the evening would draw them in and follow the wind as was coming Straight at me all weekend.
Tried a few tactics and different spots an only Managed the two bites falling to the same rod at the same time in the morning 04.30am Saturday & Sunday.
16lb1oz Mirror & 18lb8oz Common
Seemed the windy chopping weather was to much for the most the fish and they seemed to hold up in numbers at the back of the wind so the other end of the lake to me.
Tactics : German Rig and sweetcorn Wafters doing the business again.
Baiting mix consisted of a mix of : bloodworm, pixie dust & moon dust, Boilie chops, hemp, sweetcorn and some sweet & nutty glugs & slimes.
